Well, I lost the gas cap...

Looks great! Now, till the moment you finish this project, in case of a let-go maneuver, after tucking it good, remember to add a couple extra rolls... just in case.

So, a thought about the gas cap .I was thinking of having an extra key made, and cutting off the head so just a small bit was sticking up from the tumbler. Enough to grab with long nose or something. Then I'd never have to worry about dealing with a key every fill up. Which will probably be pretty often on this bike. Any drawbacks to this?

I guess everyone territory is different, but I never lock my gas cap. In fact my keys are in a leather pouch inside my jacket left pocket, it will be to much time consuming doing it every time.
My f150 does not even have a gas cap.... just a flip door that does not have a lock.
And while I can leave all my electronics in the bike in NC and never will do that in Miami, I'm not worried about anyone stealing my $10 worth of gasoline in the bike. Am I missing something?

. Am I missing something?
Ok, I guess it's me that was missing something. I don't have the bike yet, and I thought you needed the key every time you wanted to open it. I didn't know you could leave it unlocked. Ha, never mind. I shouldn't post till I get the thing

I've never locked my cap (2022 GT). My complaint is struggling to loosen the cap. The grab ridges are not big enough to get the leverage
to loosen without some grunting. I've always been able to get it off, but seems more difficult than it should be. I tired lubing the
cap threads with no improvement.
Does anybody else have this issue?

When I started this thread, it was because I left my cap sitting on top of a gas pump and didnt realize it till the next day. This was largely due to the monza lid hiding the hole. Then I contacted Triumph and they told me because the cap is keyed with the rest of the bike, they only sell a rekey kit which consists of the cap, the seat locking mechanism, and two new key fobs, which have to be programmed to the bike. It was over $700 US. I have been using a $25 gas cap since and now I'm working on perfecting the monza lid cap design to eliminate the 2 step process all together.
