So, the impossible to get riders backrest has prompted me to make my own...have to say I’m pleased with the result. I bought a universal backrest and discarded the seat/fender mounting hardware. I bought some 50x50 aluminium solid square and had it machined as per the pics. I no longer have the...
The good news is that in my opinion you have the best factory Triumph R3 Std/Classic/Roadster seat ever made...with or without the backrest. There a heaps better custom/aftermarket ones though of course.
The bad news is I am selling my NOS Rider's backrest in the USA with the NOS Dual seat.

@Jason Jurgens I have passed on your design and wonderful drawings to many over the past year or so. Much flasher than my homemade versions and probably feasible in wood too with a sheet outer metal skin/shim to support coach screw fixings /through bolts and prevent the wood block splitting with side loads of leaning on riders backrest. That would make it the cheapest and easiest home made version I can imagine. No fancy tools required at all.
Yes, I have made and tried the wood block and other steel post versions and came to that conclusion.
As they say there are many ways to skin a cat but I highly recommend killing it first!
You could also use suitable M4 (4MM) and M6 (6mm) bolts right through the metal skinned wood block with nuts washers on the topside. As stronger if through both metal skinned sides of the wood block and they do not have a M4 Coach screw.
Smallest I could find was just M6 (6MM) GALVANISED HEX COACH SCREWS LOW TENSILE CLASS 4.6

Its OK, being a trained keyhole surgeon I used Shroedingers cat, nobody saw nuthin' and it is still there in it's box shivering and wondering "why am I feeling cold If I'm dead?" ..
