Hey guys please say a prayer.I just heard that all the towns in Upstate N. Y. that I grew up in are gone.....I saw some video on facebook and its devestating....As far as I know all my family is ok but Ime not sure of how much damage they have sustained yet. As of yet they are still waiting to see if the Gilboa Dam holds or not.If it gives way there will be major loss of life and property.....

Real sorry to hear that STB. I haven't had the TV on since Saturday morning. Will keep em in our prayers.
 
Was it really that bad up north, when it came by us there wasn't much left but rain. I hope it's just a rumor.
 
no hellfire it aint no rumor she showed me a few pix from her facebook and its was pretty bad im sure she will give a update later
 
Hellfire.......It was from flooding....If you watch fox news they have video or Windham NY......busses washed down stream,houses and bridges gone......roads gone......The town of Prattsville lost a whole trailer park.......a bunch of the town people with trucks and heavy equiptment got together and hauled rock and dirt to fix the roads so people could get out since the state and county couldnt get to them.
One couple with children were stranded on the roof of the Agway feed store in Prattsville all day because the National Guard couldnt get to them the current was about 55 miles an hour........they are all safe tho.
The latest report I got was so far 2 lives have been lost......One elderly lady was swept away in her home and a man was swept away from the rising water....
The water rose 20 feet in 4 hours............thats how fast it hit......The concern now is for people next to the Mohawk river.......It was expected to crest sometime last night.
 
****, that sucks. Getting flooded is the worst, and most aren't insured for it either. I was in an ElCamino with mother and brother during a flood in Enid OK as a kid. We floated for two blocks before the ass end sank deep enough to get traction to drive out and onto the median. Living near the water is nice 95% of the time but I'll never do it.

Hope your family and friends up there got out okay, this country has cut so many emergency response personnel it's no wonder there aren't enough to cover the area.
 
Upstate VT, NH and Western Maine all got hammered hard. Have heard of towns cut off bridges washed out... Its a mess... We were lucky in southern Maine we lost power for about 4 or so hours. Friends of mine were out for a little over a day... The mountains just rang the water out of the clouds is what they were telling us up here..
