Petunia wanted a seat backrest, so now I have a seat backrest. This is a KTP Extra Large King Tour Pack from Nasty Hog Motorcycle Parts Co ($499) mounted on a Wompus rack. The quality of the trunk is good enough for the price and feels solid on the rack. It’s unlined and I’ll add seal stripping around the clamshell to seal it better and stop the top rattling when it’s closed. I made 3/8” spacer bars about 10” long and drilled holes through the whole thing to mount the trunk on the flat plate Wompus. An issue with the Wompus rack that’s been mentioned before in another thread is that the rear bezel is 1/4” too short. Mike sent me 1/4” tubes to span the gap although he refused to believe I needed it. I did. The point here is, the whole rig cost $750. Sadly, now I look like another @#$& Road King. Luckily, I still have the Bonnie!
That's a very good price for a trunk of that size. I'm surprised HD hasn't gone after then for use of the "Hog" term. Nienhaus Motorcycles in Chesapeake was nailed years ago for having on his sign that he did Harley repair and the independent shop, The Hog Pen was also threatened by Harley and had to change it's long time name. I've never diliked any particular bike brand but I sure do despise The Motor Company..
I've had one for 5 years and I don't feel a difference even with the trunk loaded for trips.
I strapped bags on to the luggage rack in the rain one too many times!
These trunks are great! Throw the stuff in and ride.
