I have. Love them (over the Avon).
Please know that this answer is as contentious as Apple vs Android. There's no right answer (Android) but lot's of feelings and experiences.
I have run both tire types. Metzeler 888 and Avon Cobra. MY preference is the Metzeler's for reasons of my own.
To each his own.

I will also state that if the 888s are not available the Avon Cobra's are a suitable alternate.

I had a 2015 rocket that came with Metzler's. But they were the 8 80s.
And I did not like them. Not only that tire prices are freaking ridiculous right now

The 880s were of a different breed altogether. The 888s are (IMDO) a better compound than they 880s were. I had both on my 2014 Rocket III Roadster. The 888s are much better, last longer, ride better. Again, just my opinion and my experience. They discontinued the 880s because they didn't hold up. The 888s are the better version.

Metzelers on rockets are not meant for sharp turns, its harder material rubber, Metzeler are pure cruising tire i.e. straight line tire meant to last way longer vs Avon.
Metzeler last longer than Avon for sure but dont push them in turns as you are probably used to with Avons.
last I checked they had 40+ avons in stock in USA, have you checked with main distributor in USA, Avon parent company?

There's no my triumph dealer where I'm having the second service done said they were unavailable. I'm just sourcing other places now.
