Its got wear inside so it moves up and down and slides back and forth. I oiled it not long after I got the bike but it has gotten worse.
How does it come off and do they cost much?

Right then
q1) standard bars?

The reason I ask is that the standardbars have a MASSIVE design fault - Thy only support the twist grip about 2/3's the grip.

Yes ,standard bars. That must be why the up/down movement is worse at the outer end.
Right then - Whip the weight of the end. If you know anybody with a lathe - get them to make you up a support spacer. If memory serves 3/4"ID and 1"OD - best is to make it to fit - makes a huge improvement. Another less fancy way is to get two short lengths of 7/8" and 1" 16g tube sleeved inside each other.

One day I'll get round to making a proper solution.

Good idea ,I know an expert machinist with his own shop

Would that give better throttle control a low speeds? My bike is a bit touchy a low speed, just a tiny bit more throttle in a corner can have you heading towards a curb. However,I suspect this in the tune or the fuel injection.

ABSO_FECKIN_LUTELY.

This is why I took a look. I could feel the throttle tube catching. The reduced diameter section of the tube I think is for OEM heated grip wiring. I watched and could see that the tube is not only a very loose fit but rocked at both ends. It still rocks a bit in the throttle housing but the other end is good and stable. One of these days I really must get to a decent bearing suppliers. Get some nice caged needle roller bearings.

I wonder if a harley throttle tube will adapt? - I have one somewhere.
