After having my Harley Road Glide Ultra for a little over a year...I have to chime in a little.
Before I got my Harley I had a pretty cynical opinion of "most" Harley riders...but not all of them. When I joined my local Harley Owner's Group (HOG) I found a lot of the stereotypical Harley riders in attending the meetings (once a month). I don't know how much different the other chapters were but the one I belong to does ride...a lot. Just about every week the Road Captains have anywhere from 3 or 4 rides a week usually at least one a week is an overnighter or two. They have gone on some pretty long rides during the week (must be nice to be retired to go on a lot of these rides) to places like the Dragon, Blue Ridge Parkway, Branson and so on.
Overall they were/are a good bunch of guys and I would ride with them without thinking twice.
The bike itself...let's just say that I have ridden a lot of good bikes and bought them for different reasons...the Harley's these days are good "competent" bikes...but having ridden two Gold Wings and two Triumphs I know what power and torque is and the with the Harley's you feel the difference pretty quick and unless you are willing to put a lot...and I do mean a lot of money into it you are going to see only modest improvements in HP and torque and when measured against the Thunderbird and especially the Rocket...you get the picture.
So I can get along with most of the Harley riders but the bikes just come up short in what I feel a motorcycle should do...especially stock.
My two cents worth.
