The Harley experiment is over

The rocket R is what the V rod wishes it was

We’re all crazy to ride these inedible machines.

Thought I would share sone experiences; I have a pretty good point of reference on several bikes and their acceleration. I’m more of a “0-60 guy” than a “top speed guy”. For the bikes I’ve actually owned and rode for extended periods of time:

-2012 Yamaha TW200- I loved this bike and we had a few great adventures. Eventually we tried to take our love to a different level and experiment in new areas. She couldn’t satisfy me. I’m a big guy and she couldn’t take me to the new places I wanted to go. I thought about having an affair, but my morals are strong. She just couldn’t satisfy me and I had to sell her
- 1973 Kawasaki Widow Maker - decent acceleration, incredible torque, couldn’t keep the front wheel on the ground. Horrible handling, couldn’t take a curve. Wish I would have kept her, she’s valuable now.
-2013 Vrod Night Rod Special, Stage 3 - Impressive off the line, but quickly died, scary over 100mph. Handling is not one of Harley’s strong suits. Cheap and made of plastic (Chinese).
-2015 KTM Super Adventure (same engine as the Super Duke). I loved this bike and did a bunch of adventure rides, definitely the best adventure bike if you’re looking for one. All my friends stopped adventure riding, and it’s no fun to do it alone, so I sold her. The V-twin performs best at high rpm’s, if I could rap her up and get the perfect balance between the over-rev limiter and the anti-wheelie controls, it was super fast of the line. Too complicated. **** Austrians.
-2020 BMW S 1000 RR - Not impressive 0-60, but after that, it winds up. More of a 70-150 bike. I don’t know how those guys get those impressive 0-60 times? Absolutely scared the sh*t out of me over 60. Incredible handling, knee dragging corners all day long.
-2025 Triumph Rocket 3 - Holy F*ck! This is the only bike I have never been able to hold full throttle 0-60 without backing off. I’ve only had “Miranda” for 2 months, and I’m still learning. But, ****!! Nothing like having 2500 cc’s between your legs.
