I to just don't like cop's. I know there just doing there job and there's probably a time when you'd be glad to see one. I just haven't come across that time yet and hope I never do. I have never and could never be friends with a copper just something about someone who can lighten your pocket by 2 or 3 hundred dollars and say have a nice day as you ride off.

No offence ment to any coppers on this sight. Just we will never be good friends simple as that.
 
Cooter, I wonder how many of "us" have had that thought.Probably not a good idea but it brings back great memories of movie heroes. AND we have a bike that certainly can out run them, but they do have radios and buddies with guns. My favorite was the time I, by chance, came up behind my wife, son and friend who had just left a movie theater. 50mph zone but to give them a show I passed them at 115. JUST as I passed I saw a cop sitting on the side of the road. My thought: "good, at least my wife can bail me out of jail for criminal speeding". As I passed him I saw that he was looking down, perhaps at some paperwork (or girly magazine) -- my wife and son thought the same about my being busted and also noticed him looking down. No moral to the story except that boys must be boys and we do need to play sometime -- nice when we get away with it. Oh, I have mouthed off to cops a few times (ok quit a few) and, at least in my experience, they hold all the card. Billy clubs, guns, handcuffs and rooms with bars. So, maybe the "moral" to the story is that it is good enough to "know" we can outrun them but probably not a good idea. Funny though, now at 62 I seem to get more "consideration" when stopped than when I was younger. Perhaps one "chase" left in this grey haired body....
 
Jail is not a fun place' you might be a bad a$$ but most people our age are at a disadvantage in a fight, and the criminal's in prison will happily take advantage of anyone. They fight and practice all the time. Older people are always a target.

I have been to many accidents and have looked at too many dead/injured children/wife's/husband while their family's were crying and some a hole standing there that was driving way to fast just for fun (cars and motorcycles). Its all fun and games until someone gets there eye poked out. If you kill someone or leave some poor child in a wheel chair, you will remember it. Anyone who drives at 100 mph on a public street is someone who cares about none but there own pleasure. If you want to race go to a track day or find a road where you kill only yourself and those that consent.

Sorry for the rant but to many bad memories...

Don't get it in your head you can out run a hyway patrol car. I was on my suzuki 1100 about 30 years ago with the throttle on the stop the speedo showing about 220 and I was hanging on. Thats when the I looked to my right and the hyway patrol officer looked relaxed sitting back in his seat, one hand on the wheel gesturing to me that I should pull over.
 
I'm pretty sure the cars made in Australia that are capable of doing it are speed limited to 250 kph. (150mph) except for the cop cars and of course the cop helicopters are a bit quicker ,like if you think you have sped away from a cop there is a good chance they have called in a chopper . As much as I enjoy going fast from time to time I know I've got away with it in the past. Like tc said over here if if you get caught with one high demerit offense and then a second high demerit offense within a twelve month period they will take double demerit points on that offense . Theres a good chance that if your on a nice piece of road capable of high speed there will be traffic enforcement of some type to raise revenue
 
The other day I was behind a vehicle at a left turn arrow. He putts through the arrow, I follow and it turns RED on me. Straight across at the light was a State Trooper! Cap, I knew I had had it. Sure enough, the lights come on and I swing into a parking lot. Iwas apologetic and stated that I thought I made it under the yellow. No way I could have stopped as I was committed. He was a young guy and read me the riot act. I deserved it trying to beat the light. It was hot so I took my helmet off and put my 138th Aviation Co hat on and waited while he sat in the cruiser for what seemed forever. Just knew I was getting a ticket! He gets out of the car and comes up to me. He had obviously seen I had no history and then he surprised me with "I am going to let you go this time". Not sure why, maybe his Dad was a Vietnam Vet, or I had treated him with respect, or both. I had also stated I was concealed carry, but was not carrying. We talked for awhile, he looked at my bike and off he went.

Phewwww!!!
