I'm sorry but I would not ride a bicycle on the road with heavy machinery going by with the driver possibly texting, drinking or just having a bad day.

Target Fixation and a large dose of incompetence by the looks of it. If I hit everything I was looking at, I'd be King of the Road in the Waikato.

"I've been riding for 30 years and never had an accident, left a huge trail of them behind me tho...":whitstling::whitstling::whitstling:

(Actually I've crashed a few times, but not into cyclists, don't tell anyone).

Bicyclists are becoming a big issue everywhere, it seems to me that they think they can take up a lane like a car or motorcycle and force traffic to go around them. Many don't follow the rules of the road, ignore stop signs and traffic signals! They can be a real road hazard and I'm surprised more of them are not injured or killed each year. Don't get me wrong, not all are breaking the rules but a lot do.

I have seen this video before. I agree with Jag that bicyclist are a road hazard often times, but not in this case. It looks as though speed of the motorcycle is deceiving to the camera, and the rider gets wide exiting the corner. Other than that this video doesn't make any sense unless the rider is an incompetent one. This section of road is a very popular one. There is hundreds of videos of bikes and cars running up and down it.

Yes you are correct, not in this case, the motorcyclist was the one that was distracted.

According to the text under the video the motorcyclist touched a peg which bounced his bike out of the his lean. Then he panicked and fixated on the cyclist.

All in all, it was definitely a sucky situation. I try not to hate on cyclists. They're also entitled to use the roads, however I really wish they had police paying as close attention to them as the cops do to us. There was a big hullabaloo here in Denver because the police started ticketing cyclists for not properly stopping at a particular intersection. Lots of backlash and the police let up (but didn't completely stop). Wish there was more of that.
