Since I need to tear the bike down and split the cases would it be wise to replace the STATOR after 68,000 miles? I have no clue how reliable the stator is on Triumph's but do know on a Harley I would replace it. Any Advice would be welcome.

They are fairly cheap and a US maker supplier of bike electricals has good ones for much less than factory about US$200 from memory. From memory again DeCosse said that it is evident from examination if SEVERE overheating has occurred but heat discoloration is usual and not an indicator of damage. This is not a common failure but far more costly for R3 owners than most other models/makes where access is far easier.
Any actual stator or regulator failure is a dead easy basic continuity/current test on wiring BEFORE engine, regulator or stator are even removed.

Understood but I would like some info on how long the stock one will last. Average life span is what I am looking for.

@DEcosse can confirm but there is no expected life limit but like most electrical items things can fail. If it tested fine and looked OK I would just get the improved plug and play Shindengen series SH847 (32800-31J00 RECTIFIER ASSY) version regulator for about the same money or less personally.

The stock shunt mosfet type Shindengen FH012 is very reliable despite its disadvantages but does not have to be purchased at a silly price from Triumph either.

Yes $468.47 dollars for a stator seems a bit steep. Common sense is telling me to buy even so this is not a Harley but was just figuring,

Mine went south at 41,000 miles.

A new stator is potentially about as likely to fail as the original - of course you'll be able to inspect it during tear-down so can make a call at that point.
It's not like anything can 'wear' per se, the failure is when the coil-wire insulation actually burns through creating a short. There is going to be a region (a couple of the coils) that will appear darker than the others - this location will be the same on every R3 - that is where the oil cooling is less and those coils are accordingly hotter. The discolouration is predominantly the epoxy sealer rather than the coil itself - I've seen a lot of images of people suspecting failed stator because one section is chocolate brown and they are really perfectly fine.
I would spend the money on a series R/R before I would replace a working stator.
If you do choose to replace look at RicksMotorsportElectrics rather than OEM

Fits early R3's no change since just haven't updated their website.
