Speedo/Tach Gauges

When I first got my bike I thought the gauges where a little strange. Top 2/3 is black, bottom 1/3 is White. The division between the two is not straight, angling down on both sides. Anybody see this or have any info would be much appreciated. A female tech at the dealer thought it was to make the gauges blend in better with the triple tree. If this is a defect I want new gauges or face plates what ever it takes, it gets a little annoying after a while, could you tell.

That is the way most all of them are, if not all... black with a silver "elipse" for lack of a better description, on the bottom..

my gauges are solid black on my 07 black on black standard.

Mine are black and silver on my 05. But the fuel gauge and clock are solid black.
