Slipping clutch VS bad Tranny

Good lord, Reg. Besides limited money or time to work on it. There's no reason your bike should be disabled for a few months. Even if you sit a week waiting for parts it should be done in less than 2 weeks. I can get into my clutch with all the supercharger stuff on it in about 1.5 hours. A stock machine should only take 45 to 60 minutes to get into. Assess and order parts, clean up cover while waiting, then reassemble in 2 or 3 hours. No problem.

Careful about putting in real heavy springs. You can get so heavy before the tension on cable is so great that the bracket holding it starts to warp.

If you're going to drag her regularly, you should probably just swallow a lockup kit. Pay to play, man, pay to play.

Oh its only about a 2-3 hour job tops.... its more of a Time issue...

I'll have the parts in a few days, But have work, and 4 kids, and wife and other commitments...and another bike I can ride, Plus a 4,000 mile plus trip planned in about a month and so on and so forth..

I migth have it up and runnign in a few days if they have the parts in stock and there are no obvious internal parts to replace.....

already have the Radiator chrome off and will probably drain the fluids tomorrow or the next day

Be carefull fitting extra strong springs,the increased loading may cause bearing to fail, especially if you dip clutch & rev.

going with the Barnett kit...will see how it is when it arrives...will also be inspectign stock stuff as soon as I take it all apart

BTW for those of you playing at home, a short discussion with my dealer, and he says make sure I presoak the clutch plates/discs in Oil PRIOR to installiing them..... that if I install them dry I could smoke tem up again upon startup or at least shorten there lifspan....
