It's the little "doohickey thing-a-ma-jig" located at the left bottom rear of the crankcase... Is that the Crankcase sensor or the gear position sensor?

...actually a lot more "wet" than seepage. Maybe the hot weather; while riding has developed the leak? No "trauma" to it that I can see; it's just wet with oil.

Should I just snog the two bolts a little more?

Is there a gasket for this thing, that should be replaced? Currently at work, would like to address it with a couple of beers when I get home tonight. Please advise...

Thanks!

Pull out and clean it while checking the O-ring on it to see if it is damaged. If its ok you can first try re-installing it and tourque the one bolt down to 9nm
If that is not the problem then I would look at a new O-ring or a little gasket splooge :)

Thanks Warp. But it has two bolts, I may have misidentified the sensor. It is located vertically, against the left vertical lower rear side of the crankcase.

That sounds like the gear position sensor.............
Ye it must be the gear sensor. Is it on the rear left side of the engine ?
If so it is The sensor as the crank trigger is on the bottom rear. You would have to ge t on your knees and look under the bike to see tyhe crank trigger sensor.

Yes but you could be right about the bolts just being loose. The are 9 nm also. When and if you decide to pullit off make sure the spring pin does not fly away. below you can see the pin I am talking about

Here is the gear sensor

if you look closly you can tell it has an O-ring seal also
Plus look at the contacts for corrosion and with some scotch bright cleant the copper contacts up while you are in there. This will help the gear sensor a lot especially when finding nuetral.
Hop this helps.
I will check back when I get home from work.

When snugging up the bolts make sure the sensor is pushed to the right as far as it will go so it will read properly.
Also I don't care how many beers you have whilst doing the job just don't snog the bolts, that's just too frigging weird....:)

Hey Paul I passed on the information to my Cousin and she has been on the stuff for a little over a year now and agrees with you as life is much better. Thanks a bunch!!!

"Snog" the bolts? Geez... I typed that... I'm more tired than I thought (not much sleep last night)

Just got home from a nice 50 mile ride @ 80mph indicated... in 101 degree's heat. I am fricken cooked.... :|

Need to rehydrate and then I'll go out back after it gets "a little" cooler... just in time for the mosquito's.... and take a look.

Thanks for the pic's Warp. That's exactly the sensor that's wet with oil on the outside. Hoping that the bolts just need a little "snug" to them...
