Not sure what this bit's actually called - I've always called it the ignition moose for obvious reasons.
Just wondering if the rust is common to others? Bike is 4yrs old and ridden all year round so she has seen a fair bit of rain, but the moose has been under the fly screen since about 6months old.
None of the other chromed parts show anywhere near the same amount of deterioration.
First thing that hit my mind when I looked at your pictures......salt.
I have a black Roadster so that part got sprayed with Plastidip. I knocked Plastidip for a while but decided to try it on that very part. It has held up for a long time. Plastidip sounds like a cheap solution to make chrome parts black but shoot it works. It adds a layer of protect another words.
