There is a rumor in the pipeline that there will be a New Rocket for 2010, an updated FULL POWER R3T. Speculation is that there is not enough difference between the new TBird and the R3T to keep the Rocket the flagship when it comes to horsepower.

There is also speculation that if this is the case, the new R3T will probably have a redesigned rear end with a larger tire that can handle the ponies.

I think many people were left scratching their heads when the original R3T came out detuned. The horsepower is why you buy a Rocket, right?

I guess we will see....

That makes sense. They really were aiming for the HD crowd with that bike and now they have a better weapon to do so.

I also heard a while back that for the 5th anniversary (2010) there will be a 2.5 liter Rocket.

Well in my case they hit the BMW crowd.

It will be interesting to see what changes they make. In order to fit a wider tire it would seem their only choices are to reduce the size of the bags, or widen the rear of the bike. Neither option sounds desirable.

Having spent the time and money to recapture most of the lost power, I would personally not favor fitting a wider tire and sacrificing the improved handling the 180 tire affords. One just has to keep in mind the reduced traction available when applying the throttle at less than fully upright position. I have no problem leaving the speed limiter set at 130. Now, if someone were to come out with a 180 tire with a higher speed rating, well a little more top end probably wouldn't be a terrible thing.

Well I'm all for the 240 tire, increased hp on a new R3T. The width would only be 3-4 inches on the increase I don't think that makes it that much wider. I think the new R3T saddlebags are thinner than my Corbins so it would just about be a wash on that.

They can keep the R3T as it is and call it the R3T "Lite" for the Harley crowd (no offence Rocket Daryl) and make the full HP version for those of us who want a R3T "Rocketship".

personally I would love to have an R3T that had a little more but with that being said the R3T I have fills the void that all my other bikes have not been able to do, more is always better but in the end I think I will settle down and run this one in to the ground it has just enough to keep the grin on my face and keep me out of trouble

If the 2011 Gold Wing doesn't come out as a showstopper as expected...then I'll probably be riding a new R3T whichever version is out and get over it and be happy.

That being said the new bigger engined R3 will probably come out as a 2012 model and I will have missed the boat again.

The Rocket III Touring, with the restored fatty, is what I'd trade for IF it had the top bottom end torque of it's predecessors. I rarely reach into the realm of the higher HP and probably shouldn't then. I've yet to ride a Touring so I may be unschooled on this aspect. There is just one peripheral that I don't understand it's absence; a tachometer, although I wouldn't want it on the tank.

I won't get one unless they have built in electric cruise control, and ABS. A standard can already be turned into a touring bike fairly easily, with a bit of money, so I don't see the point sans ABS, cruise control.

That is extremely interesting. I will be ready for a change by then and if you throw in the Mayan calender and Nostradamus both calling for the end in 2012, I will only have to make payments for two years. Think I will look at a balloon payment set up.
