proper headlight adjustment

is there a "rule of thumb" i.e. where the center of the beam of light should measure on the wall- while so many feet away from the bike-" like i have heard about for automobiles ? the reason i ask is because i have been playing with the heqdlight adustment since i got my rocket, and still dont have it dialed in to where i think it should be set. perhaps i need better eyes, but i just cant see that well at night with this bike.
