I told someone who had just bought a Fox V4 helmet that the bag it comes in is called a cat box - except you'd never shut a cat in it. It has air holes.

That is what lives under your fuel tank mate. It snakes it's way back to your air cleaner. It's a pain to remove and a ***cin nightmare to replace .
 
Is that what my 2.3 litres of grunt breathes through ? Looks very restrictive
 
It's only part of what you need to take out and you need to replace it with something else like triple K&N or Ramair. And yes, it might make you a little lean, especially if you do exhaust as well. Big plus is that you can get to the top of the engine easier for plugs or valve clearances and you can use the old air box for storage. It's tricky to take out but the absolute biggest pain in the arse to put back in. If you don't do it now, at least be prepared to do it when you need to do plugs, valve clearances, rocker cover etc.
 
hmmm... guess i may have to order a ramair for when i open the thing up in a couple months... seems like it will be a bargain vs. having to put the thing back together...

You got that right. It also makes it much easier to balance the throttle bodies, install a PCV, install the Eastern Beaver kit, and everything else you will do from time to time under the tank.

I will give it a go...been looking at the bike and I have found the valves there is one on each tyre..not to sure about the air box, could I use a balloon to store air
Jeez I'm glad I've been going to night school.,it's all making sense now
