I charge my phone at home before I leave  as far as 'tunes' go ... I sing to myself . Beauty of that is I can stop if I need to hear cars, trucks , sirens , Catherine .. oh and abuse from hostile car drivers .. you get the picture.

Hooked the phone socket up to the bike yesterday and after advice from Mitzy it all works good . It's gonna be handy on long trips and can travel into more remote areas and know if I get lost I'll have a gps to get me unlost

I simply have a weatherproof socket under the seat hooked up via a fused connection to battery a cloth and zip close plastic bag in empty aircleaner box to protect phone if I need to charge while riding but generally only charge while parked overnight,

Good luck with the "simple" wiring. I've been looking for months for the connectors. Even beginning to wonder if they still did them on the 2014 Roadster.

Apparently the correct spade connectors are there already and tucked away. Just can't find the bastids an it ain't for want of trying

I use this case and the "holster" to hold it on the bike: SEIDIO | OBEX Waterproof Case I have a Ram ball mount on the bars, popped the clip off the "holster" and mounted another ball to the back of it. Works great, several thousand miles of rough dirt roads on the ADV bike, takes about 30 seconds to switch to the Rocket (with the handlebar ball left in place).

This charger: plugs into the Powerlet and has 2 usb ports. I bought a 6 foot USB cable, route it behind the bearclaw and up the bars.

I use a Sena SMH10 in my helmet (which also charges off USB). The setup works great. GPS/camera/music/phone all in one place.

I might switch to the Kuryakin mount though. Their chrome bits look more at home on this bike than all the RAM plastic parts.
