Odometer failure

Despite today's temperature revolving closely around freezing point me and my friend decided to take our bikes for a short trip.
After few kilometers I realised that my odometer was dead (it might've been since starting the bike)- its tiny LCD screen on the speedometer doesn't show anything. I tried moving the reset switch on the speedo but it didn't help whatsoever.
Then I thought it might have been caused by a minor error of ECU and restarting the bike would solve this problem, but to my great and unspeakable anger odometer remained blank.
You guys have any clue? This issue is bizarre, since the speedometer, rpm-meter and all the gauges (warning lights) are working perfectly, so the speed sensor is okay. All electrical connections look good.
This bloody bike is driving me crazy

ME TOO!
My '09 has about 100 miles on it, now the speedo needle won't move. I can toggle through the trip meters, and the ODO is stuck at 10 miles. My dealer is 100 miles away, I don't want to have to take it in if I don't have to. Is there a chance it will reset and work after a couple cold start cycles? Thanks.

I think that few cold start cycles won't fix it. My is 2005 with 6500 miles, and on 21st March I'm taking her for a big service ( engine oil and brake pads change, throttle bodies balance etc.) - the guys at the dealer told me that they will also fix the odometer, so in two weeks I'll be able to know more about this failure.

Before going to your dealer check if the road speed sensor is securely fit and connected to the circuit.

Anyone want to tell me what and where the road speed sensor is, and I'll go check it out. Thanks!

Situated in the lower crankcase, on the left hand side.

The VSS/RSS wires are B/W, O/R and K (K is pink) out of the sensor then go to B for B/W, B/Y for O/R and K/Y for K into the harness after the connector.

Speedo Not Working

I had the problem this past summer of the speedo not working. (As I recall the odometer worked fine) After in coming and going a couple of times, I finally figured out it was related to water around the area behind the headlight, where all the wiring from the gauges comes together. I haven't don't anything to fix it, I just try not to get it too wet. :)
