Second, I'd be concerned with the 4ah total capacity. Yeah, that's really 8ah lead acid equivalent, but it's still rather low (stock is 18ah). If it starts, that's great, but you've got next to zero reserve capacity for such a huge engine. If it doesn't start right away, I'd expect very few second tries.

I was thinking the same. There are alternatives that are 6 to 8 Ah, though they may not all be of the same overall quality. It looks good on the website, but it's tiny and needs relatively large spacers to fit properly. If they made one with 8 Ah capacity, I'd be all over it.

Will keep you posted on the performance. I carry a battery starter anyway just in case. For the size I can almost think we could have two of these stacked up and connected in parallel.

But even that is effectively much less reserve than the stock battery. They make a true 15ah that will fit, but only if you put it on it's side and extend the factory battery cables, which for some reason I'm just hesitant to do (one more thing to go wrong and leave me stranded

Well, today I started the bike in the storage, 90 second, check oil after other 90. Started again and Moved the bike closer to the cabin to add more oil and prepare to depart. Went to cherohala. Stopped, turned it off in most of the viewing areas, walk a bit, started again.... full day riding.... not once had a problem starting the bike. 64 68 74 129 28... Feeling more confident now that the battery is enough to handle the need.

Nice ride, love that area! I keep my batt at 80% for the days between rides. I think even if they sit for two weeks or a month and you keep them at around 80%, they like that. Going out on a weekend trip, charge all the way up to 100% and you will not have not have any problems. They work. And multiple starts are no problem, ever.
Oops, edit; I think it’s 3mins or a 3:30 wait after the 90sec run before checking dipstick. Pretty sure. Not positive without looking it up. Someone will know.

Lost faith in Yuasa batteries, I use Yuasa YTX14H-BS on my ZZR14 and GSX14, last ones lasted less than 2 years, trying out Motobatt MBYZ16H, see how it goes.
