Sounds like you're off to a good start on that red sled of yours, Big bugga. Enjoy the ride!

Remove the secondaries,
put three underclaw K&N's on at the same time.

No wait.
The very first thing you NEED is a set of flips cable clamps for your front fender.
See in your pic how your cable has popped out of that cheap plastic crap holder.
Eliminate it. Flips stuff is WAY better.
Get yourself a car tire to put on it, we call it going to the dark side.
Look it up, you'll see.
Welcome to the site, my wife has a bike exactly like yours.
Well almost exactly, no fly screen, but she has the cat bypass and Tors on hers.
Good luck, have fun, wipe that silly grin off your face, and WELCOME aboard

Yeah the fender clip is busted on the right side (ok on left) so a new set is on the list.

Not to sure about the car tyre bit, have had a look at the "DARK SIDE' as you call it and my major query is how the hell does it corner?
When leaning into a bend how does a flat tyre handle?

But that said, it does look do-able:)

You will get VERY interested in a car tire when you find out how little mileage you get from the Metzler on it now and much they cost.

Previour owner did mention something about the $450 au mark, so yeah I know they are rich. Just having trouble getting my head around a tyre that has corners on it

Hey Big Bugga....welcome to the site...there's plenty of knowledge here and good humour...enjoy that beast...oh and black is much faster than red ;)

Car tire handles very well.
I'll never go back to an overpriced Metz.
A third the mileage and three times the cost.
Simple economics my friend.
the only thing about the car tire is you have to find the sweet spot.
Too much air and she handles like a wheel barrow.
just start out about 35 and adjust down a pound or two at a time till she handles right.
Corners?
Like a champ.
It will take you a little time to get use to the countersteering,
maybe 30 miles or so.
anyway, have fun.

Big bugga, I ran Darkside CTs on both of my Honda VTX 1800s and I'm here to tell you that if you get the right tire, it will be superior to the MT in almost every respect. They do require more and earlier rider input, especially in the twisties, however, if you are an experienced rider it really shouldn't take you very long to adjust to the slightly different feel and enjoy their significant benefits. You cannot lean a Rocket far enough over to ride on the sidewall, so that shouldn't concern you. Under all conditions, you will have more contact patch in contact with the road with a directional tread car tire than with any motorctycle tire and that's a very beautiful thing, indeed!:D There is a separate forum on this site where you can get more info and there is a ton of info avavilable from the members of this site, too: Riding on the Darkside
