New V-Max: Test Ride Report

Flip's right, I'm making decent enough money over here but I've got a lot better things to spend it on that to make a pretty fast bike faster. I don't use it to it's full capability when I do ride it, I just know "it's there" and that is usually enough for me. The cost of a ticket, potential huge increase in insurance rates is enough to keep me riding "relatively" safe though every now and then there is the urge....

But to each his own....

Yea,
Thumbs up to you guys that have the cash to spend to build super bikes.
Me, I work for a livin and have to get second hand parts or get a deal, or fab what I want, which ain't bad either.
I ain't complaining or whining,
just for me, I'll fix what I enjoyed enough to lay out the cash for, and make IT the way I want it,
and hopefully get alot of years enjoyment from the process of making it into what I want it to be.
Rather than spend thousands on a 10 second or less rush, I'll just jump out of an airplane for alot less and feel that rush everytime for less than $100.

I'm with you. On a fixed income creative mods become dear, I went dark because of it. My dealer keeps telling me he wants to set up some machines in his shop and has designated me to instruct him on usage of the mill and lathe. That's great but I would have to sign a release everytime I walk in the shop. When that becomes a reality I'll try and get used to utilizing 128rwhp.

Super rocket

WELL FLIP if you dont care about performance then just keep cruising but if you do you can mod the ROCKET and have a ball beating up on all the sportbikes and VMAXES

I've never ridden the new Vmax, but to me, it's a Vmax in name only. I have so many stories and experiences wrapped up in the old model, it's the only Vmax to me. The new one is bad assed for sure...but the old one has my heart.

Baggage...I think I'd counter the dealer with.....'I'll be happy to instruct you in what is fast becoming a lost art...for a price. My knowledge and expertise is worth something to me. As far a signing a release, I've never signed any release to walk in anyone's shop and that includes my friends 6 million dollar state of the art machine shop in Plymouth, Michigan. I might wear a hard hat and safety glasses but I'd never sign a release.

I do care about performance and I enjoy being a spectator and providing input about items I know about. If I didn't care about performance, I'd not have bought a 2.3 liter 2 wheeled missile. Make no bones, even stock it's a missile, let alone massaged and supercharged. I enjoy reading and sharing your experiences, heck, I enjoy selling the aftermarket goodies to help them go fast........

What I'm saying and all I'm saying is that we tend to beat up on Harley's here...because we can. Look at Harley's. They compare to the Rocket just like the Rocket compares to the V-Max. You have to modify a Harley extensively to just keep a Rocket in sight. Different bikes appeal to different segments. That's why I don't have an MV or a Duck. It's all about what my perception is as well as my comfort level.

Finally, it matters little to me what a person rides. What is important is that they ride. Maybe it has something to do with my age but one thing always seems to play out in the end and that is when you think you have the fastest bike or car on the street, inevitably someone comes along and blows your doors off.
