I live in Texas, I am working in Africa, found my Rocket online in Katy, Texas. She was a 2008 demo for the dealership with 30 miles on her. After some haggling she was mine. I am 45 and been riding on and off since high school, I have had Harley's and Honda's my last bike was 99 Vulcan 1500 that I rode for several years and loved dearly. I only get to ride for 3 weeks every two months. If I could say anything about the Rocket its gotta be respect, she is not like anything I have rode, she has schooled me a couple of times. I gotta say she is the nicest bike I have ever owned so far. I was really looking at a Harley firefighter before the Rockets really caught my eye, I can tell you it's a blast to go ridding with my Harley R.U.B. buddies and still have a bike that will keep up with the Goldwings. Very pleased only regret, I have to wait another month to ride her again. I can't wait to go to the Darkside. On my next rotation I'll add some D&D's. The only things so far is Triumph windshield, passenger backrest, engine guard and bags, plus after market driver and passenger floor boards and heel-toe shifter. Always open to advice on whats best to add, looking at the rivco cruise control, and the auto turn signal canceler(yes I am one of those, sorry).

Riders backrest, a must have.
Either the triumph one, or since you have the standard model, just get one from utopia.
welcome to the site.

Welcome to the Crazy Bunch! Really like your bike (I love red!). I'm a fairly new 'Rocketeer', live in NM, and occasionally come to Texas for rallies. Maybe we'll run into each other someday!!

Kick the Tires, Light the Fires, and HANG ON!!

Mine's an '05 Silver R3 Standard

Is it spring loaded? I assume it folds forward for passenger entry right? Looks really comfortable, as long as it does not interfere with wife, she loves this bike almost as much as me.

not sure if it lays down like the Triumph one or not.
Might be better to just spend the cash and get one that adjusts and lays down..

Welcome to the club! The Utopia backrest, like the Triumph (have had both) does lay forward. Had one on my last Gold Wing, have the Triumph one now on my Rocket.

Where in Africa are you working? After retiring from the Navy in '93 I worked in Somalia with KBR for the UN, and I've worked in Djibouti twice earlier this decade before landing in Afghanistan twice the latter part of the decade.

Enjoy the Rocket, you are getting more riding time than me I only get to come home every four months for a couple of weeks and then its back to work.

There are a lot of Rocket riders in Texas, hopefully you'll meet up with a bunch of them.

Hearts in Texas but jobs in Delta State of Nigeria. I work in the port in Warri. Its not bad when the cease fire is holding. We are enjoying amnesty for Militants gun trade in program right now. Rainy season is almost over so we'll have some good weather before the dust storms start around Christmas. Its all worth it, my wife and kids have a good life and I get to ride a Rocket III and sometimes I'll even let them get on back.
