hi i am new to this site and the world of thiumph r3's and would like some input from re owners i just sold my 2004 victory kingpin and all ways liked the r3 since it first came out and now am 95 % sure that iam going to buy one i found a new 08 r3 blue/silver classic for 13,500 but would like every ones insights on there likes-dislikes problems /reliablity every thing and any thing thanks !!

The biggest thing to know is that the standard and classic are tuned for power and the touring is set up for torque and smoothness.
Check out threads using search for comments on any problems owners have had. I can tell you that the 08's have all the upgrades and factory recalls already done out of the box and mine has been nearly trouble free.

you can check the reliabilty thread on here it will give you some of the info you r looking for

Plenty of info you need on this site. I don't know your location, but you might want to do a little more shopping before you buy. Some dealers have left over new Rockets for the price of the one you're looking at. Out here in SoCal, Craigslist has had 2, 2008s for under 9K, both with under 10K miles, in the last month.

Keep in mind also that you may read of what looks like a lot of problems with the bike, but then there are many like myself that have had no problems in 42K miles on my 2005.:D

Triumph has acted exceptionally to take care of most any major problems whether you are in or out of warranty!

I liked mine so much,
I bought a second one for the wife.
If I wasn't pretty confident with the machine,
and Triumph stepping up IF anything goes bad on it,
would I put my wife on one?

Shop Around

You'll definitely love the bike, but before you pay that much for a used RIII, I'd also say shop around a bit. I bought my '07 Standard brand new from a dealer earlier this year (had been sitting unassembled in a crate for 2 years!) And had a $1000 Jardine exhaust system installed by the dealer for less than you're looking at on that '08. Again, you'll love the bike, but you'll like yourself better if you shop around a bit and get a better deal. Welcome to the site!

My '07 Standard was purchased for $10K. She has $5K in aftermarket goodies on her and 2900 miles on the clock. There are some extraordinary buys out there including a steal of a deal on a 2008 here in NJ that was listed on the .com site by diggetydogg, for about $9K. I think that he posted it on eBay and that the auction ends today.
