Well, after more than 5 months in the shop for two transmission failures, I finally have my black and red 2006 Classic back in its proper home.

When I tried to pick it up last Saturday, coolant started leaking from the radiator cowling. Turned out to be a loose hose clamp.

Before I rode off yesterday, I tightened up every fitting that I could with the factory toolkit - - and I found several that needed it.

The transmission shifts WAY better now. Less clunking and each gear seems to click into place. After having just ridden the Touring model and jumping on mine, I can definitely tell the power difference and the better ride quality of my Progressive 418s.

Corbins and GPS mount are back on the bike and I've adjusted my new Triumph footpegs on the crash bars.

It's 39 degrees outside and I don't care. As long as there is no hurricane, I'm riding the beast!

I sincerely hope the remainder of my posts for a very long time are about how well the bike performs. This bike is my Prozac and I've been of my meds for too long.
 
It's funny what motivates some folks. You get a hold of 'em by the short hairs or a have a lock on their 2008 Touring and they seems to jump through hoops for you.
I too hope all your future posts are of long rides and cheerful times. Good luck

My bike is my only source of transportation. If this were to happen to me, I may insist that some sort of reimbursement or compensation be made. I hope it doesn't happen, or at least I have a more responsive repair shop.
As for the temperature, I ride to work every morning. The coldest it's been this year is about 46 deg F. But I expect it will get colder, as I have ridden into the low teens. Yes, it DOES get that cold here!
 
Congrats on getting your bike back!

I've chickened out the past couple of mornings and took the truck to work.. It's been in the mid to lower 30s the past few mornings..
 
It was 30F on my ride from work yesterday and will be near the same with a threat of rain today. But, you often have to give up a bit to get a lot. The FBG makes it worth it!
 
Problems not over

Well, it seems we are back to where we were minutes before the catastrophic transmission failure back in June.

Second gear STILL feels like it is losing its grip under hard acceleration. Putting around town in stop and go traffic, the transmission shifts like a breeze. 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th all click in much better with the new transmission.

But twist the throttle a little too much in 2nd, and the thing feels like it skips a tooth and then reconnects. It will do this about 2-3 times all the way to 4000 RPM, and then it stays put. 3-to-2 downshift followed by acceleration also creates the same effect.

In all other regards, the bike is running great.

I put about 100 miles on it this afternoon and got some good highway time to try out the new footpegs. For a brief while, I was able to forget about second gear and just enjoy the ride.

Other symptoms - -
Neutral is a lot harder to find after the rebuild.
Downshifting into second makes a double clunk.

I want a new 2008 Classic. Transfer the tins, Corbins, and all my accessories to the new bike, and let Triumph figure this thing out. I am so fed up.
 
Sounds to me that yet another mistake was made when re-assembling the tranny. The problem, 2nd gear popping out, is known to the factory. I should know, having exerienced it in 2005 All I can suggest at this juncture is that you proceed with the legal action we discussed earlier. Jamie
