Milage

true it is always best to keep the fuel pump covered if it is just in town i refuel 100 to130 miles. i have kept a long term record an mine average 33 miles with tors an seconds opened up. on the freeway i did 150 miles and still had about 1.5 gal left.

My low fuel light comes on with 2 gallons remaining in the tank. About the same time as the Triumph accessory fuel gauge bottoms out. From there, I try to refuel within 50 miles. Best tank range has been 195 miles with a half gallon remaining. A little too close for comfort.

don't want to hijack the thread but i would like to know
how hard is it to start the rocket when u run out of gas and then put gas back in?

As I said 180 - 200 miles. I had done 226 mikes when I recently ran dry for the first time.
Note also that I do carry a 2 quart fuel canister in my pannier which has been used many times by my ride partners.

You have 6.3 gallons. Expect at least 30 MPG romping on it and 40 MPG cruising. 6 x 30 = 180 miles. 6 x 40 = 240 miles. My bike turns on the fuel lite when 4.2 gallons have been used. That usually yields between 142 and 172 miles. That leaves 2.1 gallons to empty. I use 50 more miles to go as my safety net.

Bill,
I agree and your "50 more" is about when the "miles left" goes 0.
