..ok..here's my dilema..installed Rivco risers yesterday, putting the clutch cable behind the triple tree..all was well until I went to put the clutch cable barrel back in the clutch handle..what the hell..did the **** thing shrink??..after farting around with adjustments on the bar end of the cable and not getting it back in.. ..in my infinite wisdom (maybe not), I decided to take it off of the elbow lever (thank you RiderRocketman for the terminology) and give it a go from there....well, it worked except the lever was in different position..but it did work<shrug>..had a couple of centimeters? of free play and all was well..went for an easy 50 mile ride with my Road King neighbor..clutch didn't slip..shifted gears fine..everything was honky dory..until I read this post

You need to make sure when the clutch lever is not pulled, the cable needs to be loose with no tension on it at the elbow lever on the engine case. If it is tight, that means the cable is holding the clutch apart and so the transmission is not getting engaged fully when the lever is let go.

now I remember when I took the elbow lever off the splined rod? it rotated another 5 or 6*..making me think it had tension on it all the time..
sooo I thought I would try to remedy the situation today, only to dig myself into a much deeper hole.. ..after fkn with it for to long this afternoon, all I have is free play? no matter what position the lever is in..what have I done?..HELP..
