But front turn signals are no different than classic or standard.

Yup - And it's almost worth fitting after-market just so you can hide the originals away - free from risk of damage.

I'm thinking of trying to retrofit some of these http://www.kellermann-online.com/en/news/detail/15 next winter. Come with a red ring with brake light functionality and a white ring up front for conspicuity.
