Liquid performance boost: Premium gas

Well Marvin, uh yes, sorta I guess. The gasoline stations are just the "pusher man", like the guy on the corner selling nickle bags. OIL is like the blood of the world. The more you have, the more power you have. Most wars start over oil and/or the property it lies beneath. Always has, always will. No oil, no lights, AC, television, agriculture, food, industry, jobs, on and on backwards until we are huddled around a circle of rocks trying to cook some critter we beat to death with a wooden club, over a pile of burning sticks. I'm pretty sure if you took the time to research genetically engineered corn, you'd find some giant oil conglomerate behind the research and funding. If they found a way to add piss to gasoline, we'd probably be required to set it out in the plastic bottles that they now want us to put out for recycling on garbage days. It's all about money and the want of it. We are just pee-ons, gobbling up whatever the money people throw out there for us to buy $$$$$$$

The new gas station just up the road from my house offers ethanol-free, and I'm on my second tank. Seat of the pants performance doesn't seem any different, and I haven't been tracking mpg. However, I have noticed that the bike pops a lot less on deceleration than it did before. Whether that's due to ethanol-free gas, octane (the e.f. fuel is rated slightly higher than the standard 87 octane I normally buy), or some other factor I can't really say.

It is a bit spendier than standard ($2.89 vs. $1.99), but if it cures the exhaust popping and improves fuel system health it might be worth it.

I'll try a few more tanks and then change back to e10 to see if the popping resumes.

Stupid assumptions do not equal facts and neither does unsubstantiated conjecture.

The problem with most conspiracy theorists is that they do not know how to properly formulate a theory, let alone test one.

I suppose that recycling is another burden that the "money people" have constructed to keep the peons downtrodden and clueless?

More than likely, one would best consult a pee-on for the the real skinny on that and other subterfuges, which are nothing less than societally undermining, counter-cultural scams.

BTW, our state has the sad distinction of having just one service station which sells "real", non-ethanolized gasoline!!!???

I've only used premium unleaded from the get go. Its a special bike and deserves the best fuel!!

Unfortunately, assuming that "premium" actually means better in regards to gas is folly. The Rocket is not designed nor tuned to run on premium.

The only valid reason for running anything other than Regular is if you can obtain ethanol-free gas.

She'll run better on the type of fuel for which she is designed, i.e., 87 octane unleaded.;)

would there be a way to remove ethanol from the gasoline without waiting for it to settle to the bottom of a tank

Not sure about removing it, a-duke, but there are a limited number of over-the-counter products that can help mitigate its adverse effects. Of course there are many more products available that might make matters worse, too, usually without the consumer's being aware of that salient fact. Personally, I have been using StarTron's product in each tankful of gas for over 5 years and to good effect as far as I can tell. You might find this article to be both interesting and useful: Is your gas additive safe with E10 fuel?
