It’s growing on me!

Never really have got along with WyldCFH. That may change. Come on folks the New Rocket ain't all that. Glad to see Truimph continue the model but wow. The Diavel will clean sweep it. The new Rocket looks like a bunch of plastic parts not even the same color placed together in some wired combination to look cool. The New Diavel just looks and rides better. Plus it is a proven design engine wise and performance wise. Triumph is hoping to cash in on the new look but it is nothing compared to a Diavel supermodel. Triumph has been really pushing to sell to a younger crowd but even they will see it as being a expensive and alternative model that is nothing more than a poorly copycat.

You're right, my bad. $210.00 extra. It looks small also. You're correct about not seeing the new Rocket...at all. Not yet anyway but I will. I still think the Diavel is as ugly as F***. I would like to ride one though and may do that in the future. Just not into the looks.
 
All the reviewers tout the top quality and finish of the Rocket. Haven't heard any of the people who've tested it state it's "A bunch of plastic parts". As to handling and ride, the people who've ridden it have stated it handles better than the D.. Personally, I think the Rocket looks better too.

Can't wait to see what people will ring out of that engine once it gives up it's secrets to the gang here. I'm betting Carpenter or Neville will pull close to 300 hp out of the beast. Shorter stroke, 6 speed, bevel cut gears, single swing arm etc etc makes for performance plus... Maybe not your traditional cruiser but Triumph had to do something considering how the old one sold. Glad they did it.
 

No worries, I was just trying to make a fair comparison.

I have no skin in the game. I'm currently all about buying the tool for the job I want performed. My BMW GS for long trips with some mild twisty attacking and commuting, my Super Duke R is the loud hooligan fast as sh!t toy.
The Super Duke is about to be gone for a higher HP less TQ carver for occasional track use... well sometime in April when they come out.
If I ever decide to go cruiser again, the HD Road Glide is pretty good lookin' and slow enough I can't get myself in, too much, trouble out on the open road.
 

wow, a bit harsh don’t you think, especially for a bike that isn’t out yet with any real world miles under its belt. The Diavel is interesting to me, but that bike has way more plastic than the Rocket. Ducati’s are amazing and beautiful bikes, true pieces of art, but they are also the gift that keeps giving every time you go to the dealer for service. You can bet on a minimum $1k in service walking in the door. Unless you wrench your own of course. To me, the timing belts are a pain in the ass. I don’t have to worry about that with the Rocket. I’m not sure the Diavel and R3 are straight up comparable. Sure, both are muscle cruisers in a small niche category but each one appeals to very different riders.

And, if you buy a base Road Glide you'll even save some money vs the new Rocket.
 
Huh, I would think that the Diavel buyer, especially an XDiavel buyer is the same one considering the new Rocket. Coulda sworn I read somewhere Triumph even admitted the Diavel was their target. A buyer of the original Rocket may be someone more interested in a road bike and versatility vs the Diavel, but I can't really see the difference between the XDiavel and new Rocket except the Diavel is 150lbs (!) lighter.
That 150lbs and my strong mistrust of Triumph when it comes to new bikes is why my money would go for an XDiavel.
AFAIK the Diavel service intervals are 18K miles, the R3 20K and both cost too much to service, just like most European bikes if you take them to a dealer.

The base Road Glide is $21,699. The R3 is $21,900 and $22,600.
Depends on how you define extras. Comes standard with linked ABS and Cruise Control. If you add the RDRS (IMU), etc. it's still only $100 more than an R3GT.
And compared to the R3 it comes with extras like saddle bags, sound system, frame mount fairing, etc., and will almost certainly match the R3 for fit and finish.

Yes, I know the R3 makes more power. Yes, I know virtually no one will cross shop the two.
He asked about price.
