"La 'Bird" is up for sale, 28 months after her showroom exit. The "feet forward" posture it commands has become an undeniable contributor to my on-going back problems (and I am reportedly "pushing" 64!). I was about to part with it, family pressure unanimously helping, and sadly join the ranks of "former-bikers-with-age/health-excuses".

Instead, I have foolishly or valiantly decided to trade it in for a new Bonneville T100. And to (try to-) keep on riding, regardless.

Best regards to this forum's natives and veterans

Ol'Jamie:)

Well.. where's some pics of this Bonnie? :) I often think about going that route myself. Mostly due to most of my riding for the forseeable future is just back and forth to work, and those Bonnies are a lot of fun too.

Dealer gave me a Bonnie once as loaner while my Rocket was in for something. Felt a bit like a toy (at first) but it sure was blast to ride, especially in traffic.

jamie,
I hope you stick around.
Lots of us have parted company with our Rockets in the past
like you did before you got your bird,
and still log on to keep company with our friends.
So don't just leave us like pianoman did.
He sold his and never heard from him again.
I'm sure he's playing music somewhere,
but I'd like to know for certain,
so don't just leave us hangin,
you've got friends here that have known you for years.
like to know you're still in the wind and on the right side of the dirt.
Whatever you ride,
ride safe.

i have a few mats i ride with. 4 of them some years your senior. yes they may have changed the bike they are on for something easier to manage but let me tell you, with out these guys as part of our group, life seriously wouldn't be the same. one of the fellas is 73, bad athritis, only has half of his left leg and 7 fused vertebrae. he still rides with us albeit a can am jig but honestly our lives are blessed to have this bloke with us just like your friendship on this site is to us.

tell me how you go with the bonnie, have been trying to convince my wife to let me buy her one so i can ride it.

The Bonnie T100, so light and so nimble, is a blast to ride. And its "classic" (versus "feet forward") posture seems to agree with my old spine.

Plus it's good looking, IMO, in a roaring 60's sort of way. Even more so with the chrome-plated cylinder head cover which I just got retro-fitted at the time of the 500 miles-service (NTR, by the way).

1'000 miles over a fortnight, mostly rapid, on rural and alpine roads. Have yet to scrape/destroy the footpegs (a compulsive tendancy of mine, which only old timers on this forum will no doubt commiserate :p).

I'll post a pic, if and when I remember how to.

Best. Jamie;)
