Welcome to the hood...JMTC you might want to try and find someone already on the DS and see how you like it before you pull the trigger. For me it didn't take long to get used to. My problem back when those were getting the car tire was finding someone willing to put it on. I've gone back to the Metzlers and always get a least 12K out of them.
That was our friend, Key Wasted's, video from the VTXOA site. The original vid is 6-7+ years old and I should point out that he lives in Key West, FL which has no hills, graded roads or twisties of any sort.
I ran a CT on two VTXs, but just like on my R III, doing significantly compromised handling and safety concerns. Sure, it was easy to get used to, but for me, someone that appreciates maximum safety, great handling and accurate input/feedback to the rider, the negatives far outweighed any and all perceived advantages of running a car tire on my motorcycle(s).
Nonetheless, the design and geometry of the big Honda is such that you cannot lean the bike over sufficiently in order to get it riding up on the sidewall of a car tire. All of the other, well-known negatives associated with darksiding, such as the need for considerably more countersteering, slowed response time(s) and pronounced tire steering, where the tire steers the bike as much or more than the rider on certain surfaces or road conditions, etc., are, of course, still omnipresent.
