Help from Raton New Mexico Really Help!

Have traveled 2000 miles in 72 hours. We have been all through mountains and many many turns and shifts. Some hard accelerating and a crash 1600 miles ago. My bike fell to the left side scraping the clutch lever and folding the left highway bar back around (Pulled it back out and it is fine)
About 150 to 200 miles ago, I began noticing difficulty finding the slip point when starting from a stop. This has worsened and now on hills if I accelerate to hard I get some rev and slippage. Still ridable. We got bumped on down the road and now it's 10:30 pm Tuesday, Aug 21st. I've got about 600 mi to ride to reach San Antonio. I'm getting married there in 2 1/2 days Give me suggestions. There is a Yamaha dealer near the hotel. Should I limp out of here or wait till they open?
A simple tightening? A bigger problem here?

If I don't interact with this post, it is because I have gone on down the road on a wing and a prayer tomorrow.

Sounds to me like the bike is trying to save you from doing something silly....like getting married. :lol:

If its slipping, it sounds to me like you need to adjust the clutch as RC said. You need to get about 2mm of free play to eliminate the slipping, if this is what is causing the problem. If you are not sure about doing it yourself, even a Yamaha dealer should be able to help you out. If that doesn't fix it, you have more serious problems.

Right on the handle bar, where the cable comes out of the lever, there is a knurled tube and lock ring just like every other motorcycle ever made. Loosen the lock ring and Screw In the knurled tube, (the little part that is sort of the end of the cable). It is easier to move the knurled part if you pull the clutch lever and then try to move the knurled part as you let the lever out, (takes a little of the tension off the cable sheath). Don't turn it much, cause it is not likely to be off by much.
When you pull the cable the first time, even before you try to adjust the cable look down on the left front of the engine. Find what moves when you pull the lever. Follow the cable down to the place where it is attached to the engine. Look at the lever like arm that attachs the cable to the engine. Watch it move. Is it hitting on anything or binding since your tip over? Is it bent? If it is, that needs to be bent, carefully back out.

Made it to San Antonio Was out of touch for two days
Here is what happened.
Had Triumph HWY bars on there. WHen I wiped out, it folded the left one
right in and the lower mounting flange somhow broke the inner coil of the
clutch cable housing just above the bracket near the motor. It went unnoticed. After two days of hard riding through the mountains of montana then colorado, the housing inside snapped all together and this allowed the cable housing to telescope then king and shear THis effectively loosened the cable. With each tightenng, it telescoped some more and would be loose after each gas stop. Maddening. No clutch cable here in San Antonio or Austin. I have it together with a piece of copper plate wrapped and taped around the housing re creating a stiff shell. Getting married tomorrow
