Hello from Pennsylvania

Michael,
I'd say the first one was a fluke.
Some hungover dude adjusting the valves first thing Monday morning,
or the last one on the assembly line Friday afternoon.
this one will be better.
can't say I'd blame ya for being a little cautious
in the confidence of Triumph after that, but as an aside,
my rear output shaft bearing went out after a month of ownership on my '07.
It took the dealer 6 weeks to get a new rearend in, completly changed it out.
Not one problem since then, well, not one that was the bikes fault anyway.
it's nice to have a good dealer, they're rare as hens teeth.
I bought my bike new, it was a demo, then rode it 600+ miles home.
After the output shaft bearing I was expecting something else to happen,
but it never did.
I've rode it on a couple thousand mile trips now with never a hicup.
Got over 35,000 miles on her now, so good luck.

Thanks for the information.
That is exactly what I need.
I needed a little boost.
I know the engine has been around quite a few years and bugs should be worked out.
Sounds like those with issues have been from maybe '07 and/or '08.

After reading your post I am anxious to get on the road to pick up my new Rocket.

Honestly, you have no idea how good it felt to read that.

GOD BLESS!!

Michael

You won't get 2 duds mate. New one will be brilliant. It's the one you were meant to have. :D

Thank you also for the words.

We felt exactly what you said - that was not our bike.

This one is the one.

Hey, better to have it die after only 73 miles and on the way home than after awhile and the dealer and Triumph would start to question you and not their machine.

Rocket launch set for 10AM (our time!!!!)

God bless!!!

Well this morning we go pick up the new Rocket.
It is a 2 hour drive one way.
I am a little nervous after the first one died out on us.
I will ask them what the issue exactly was with it.
But it was valve related I hear.

It does not help my confidence level in the bike after reading the thread about the man's Rocket that had the engine blow up on him at 19K miles.

I will report in later on how the visit was with the dealer and how the ride home was.
I do know that I really enjoyed the initial 73 mile ride.

God bless!!

Michael (Steele Rocket)

Michael..it will be fine and you will love..there's nothing quite like a Rocket

Hello all from Williamsport, Pa.. USA from our HOME with the new Triumph Rocket III tucked away in our garage.

It ran just great for the 98 mile (2 hour ride) home.

That Rocket just hummed along with all its power just waiting to be unleashed.

I must say hearing back from all of you after this disastrous start to our Triumph career helped us to continue to get the second of our "first" Triumphs.

I asked the Finance Manager, the Service Manager, and the Salesman about what was wrong with the bike that died on us.

Each one acted like they did not know why and referred us to the next person.

They said they spoke multiple times with Triumph and all they know is Triumph wants the bike back.

A question for all of you - Is it possible this bike had a major heart attack on the road and Triumph wants the bike back quickly before anyone hears about it?

I know this sounds foolish but that is how it feels talking to all three of these guys.

Like there is a major hush-hush going on.

Like this is something they do not want the public to know about.

Anyway, we had a great ride home and we got home from our Ministry work tonight around 12:30 in the morning and I had to sit on it and start it one more time before going to bed.

My wife first laughed but then she started taking pictures and even recorded the engine sound and is going to use that as her main ringtone for her cell phone.

While Ministering my wife met a gentleman with a Triumph shirt on.

She asked him if he owns a Triumph.

He said yes - 18 of them (I think I am a little behind!)

I will be asking for help in posting pictures of our beautiful new baby!!

Thanks everyone and God bless!!

You all were right on.

The Rocket rides great.

We were out all day and hopped on the bike for an end of day cool down ride and I did not want to get off.

I love the sound of the engine - the growl.

I do not need obnoxiously loud bikes to enjoy the ride and my wife and I were able to talk to each other the entire ride.

This was only our second ride and I know the more I ride it the more comfortable I will become with it.

The big thing for me is the weight - not the power of the engine.

I have shorter legs and I really stretch to reach the ground.

Loose stones are real bad in this situation.

But I feel my riding style enhances the bikes ride.

Ease on the throttle during take off and gearing up and the bike is smooth as butter!

But it sure has snap when you need (or want) it.

We will be very busy this week and I doubt I will be able to get on it but maybe by next Monday.

God bless!!

Michael/Karen

Welcome to you and your wife. Sorry you had bad vibes on the first one but it sounds like the second is doing just great. Yes Triumph does like to quieten down bad things but the do most times come thru for us it just make take some prodding. As far as short legs just do like I did and get shorter shocks it will lower it enough you can feel comfortable and loose gravel won't be as bad especially when you are trying to back up.
