Hello from Pennsylvania

Welcome SR from Perth Downunder.
I use my R3 for work and local shopping because the wife claimed the 4x4 as hers when I got the bike but at least I am always Grinning

Oh! you'll have to get used to Grinning while your on the R3

Sounds like you'll fit right in around here.
Glad to have ya with us.
Ya'll make plans to attend the Rocket Launch in Sept.
or at least the next Rockets Across America next May.
Another Welcome from Oklahoma.

My wife and I are new first time owners of a Triumph ride.

We have a Rocket II Tourer SE - but we do not.

Here is where any input you people have would be greatly appreciated.

We bought it this past Friday.

It is 98 miles from the dealer to home.

On mile 74 the bike died on us.

We spent several hours in the dark working the cell phone for a trailer.

Found one and headed back south towards the dealer.

Arrived there the next morning in the same clothing we picked it up in.

They had all three mechanics working on it for three hours and still could not determine why it died on us.

It has been several days now.

I want this bike badly since I did get to ride it for 74 miles to truly enjoy it.

Symptoms:

The engine started "chirping" real loud while doing 60-65.
I pulled the clutch in and let off the throttle and the sound disappeared.
Clutch out and back on the throttle the sound is back but instantly is gone again.
Riding a few miles further the "chirping" is back and very loud.
We stop for dinner and I sit with the bike running and in gear and clutch in while my wife (has much better hearing than me) walks around the bike and listens to where the noise may be coming from.
She hears it from the right side, back of engine, around the starter.
Like it was mentioned it is a chirping sound "chirp, chirp, chirp".
After dinner back on the bike and 1/2 mile down the road it dies completely on us.

Has anyone here had or heard of anyone having this occur to their bike?

As of last night the dealer still has not found the problem and we are getting nervous about taking this bike back.
They gave us our traded bike back to us to get home and told us they placed a hold on all paperwork until the bike is fixed.

Thanks for any input.

R3 owner for at least one day at this point!

God bless!!

First off....

A big warm welcome to you both, thrilled to have you join what I consider to be the best web site for learning, sharing and caring about people with a like passion, ' a passion for stunning motorbikes'

secondly....

after your very unfortunate and most off-putting introduction to your new pleasure machine, i almost feel embarrassed for the bike. It is most disappointing and frustrating this has happened as we like to consider ourselves the cleaver people riding big machines as they are more reliable than others. Your experience would prove the opposite.

I can't say I can be of any assistance to you with any info regarding your issues other than I would strongly be of the opinion that the dealer should reverse the paper work and get you a new bike...

sounds a bit like a Friday bike to me..I hope I'm wrong and it is something silly but.........

That sucks. I wouldn't accept it back. You should be entitled to a new one.
Good luck with it.
