My wife and I are new first time owners of a Triumph ride.
We have a Rocket II Tourer SE - but we do not.
Here is where any input you people have would be greatly appreciated.
We bought it this past Friday.
It is 98 miles from the dealer to home.
On mile 74 the bike died on us.
We spent several hours in the dark working the cell phone for a trailer.
Found one and headed back south towards the dealer.
Arrived there the next morning in the same clothing we picked it up in.
They had all three mechanics working on it for three hours and still could not determine why it died on us.
It has been several days now.
I want this bike badly since I did get to ride it for 74 miles to truly enjoy it.
Symptoms:
The engine started "chirping" real loud while doing 60-65.
I pulled the clutch in and let off the throttle and the sound disappeared.
Clutch out and back on the throttle the sound is back but instantly is gone again.
Riding a few miles further the "chirping" is back and very loud.
We stop for dinner and I sit with the bike running and in gear and clutch in while my wife (has much better hearing than me) walks around the bike and listens to where the noise may be coming from.
She hears it from the right side, back of engine, around the starter.
Like it was mentioned it is a chirping sound "chirp, chirp, chirp".
After dinner back on the bike and 1/2 mile down the road it dies completely on us.
Has anyone here had or heard of anyone having this occur to their bike?
As of last night the dealer still has not found the problem and we are getting nervous about taking this bike back.
They gave us our traded bike back to us to get home and told us they placed a hold on all paperwork until the bike is fixed.
Thanks for any input.
R3 owner for at least one day at this point!
God bless!!
