I'm Erik and I got my 06 Rocket 3 in december. Got a great deal on it, and drove to Iowa between blizzzzzzards to pick it up. I got on this sight and met busajack. My rocket has 1026 miles as of sunday (4/1/07). I hope to enjoy the riding and working on it. I have the first bike I bought, A 71 BSA Lightning. I also has a 72 B50 T, 72 BSA Thunderbolt and lastly a 70 Norton Comando (full race conversion). I am also a Sr. judge with Antique Automobile Club of America. My Victor and Thunderboolt are award winning bikes. I've worked in two British/Harley repair shops. The last 27 years I have taught Industrial arts (woods, metals, photography and anything else they threw at me). I teach Auto Body Repair at our High School. I still love it and wish I had more time to do my stuff. The Bikes are still fun and I will keep playing with them till I can't any more. I have five children and six grandchildren. the grand children even like the bikes.

I'll give ya a belated welcome even though you have a Harbor Fright mill. I always aspired to be an industrial arts teacher but somehow wound up as a diesel dummy. Oh well, ****te happens.

I do have to admit to something though. I have 2 oriental machine tools myself. My 6X18 Toolroom grinder is a Kent (I didn't want to pay the tariff on a Harig and honsetly, the Kent is made from stoughter castings and I have a Dashin Prince 16X60 engine lathe and that's a good machine too. It will hold as tight a tolerance as my LeBlond servo shift even though it's painted pismuckle green. Besides, in single phase so if in a pinch, you could power it with an extension cord.

This is, by far, the most enjoyable site I've ever had the honor of frequenting, bar none.

I believe that is because it has such a nice classified section .....

Eric... a very belated welcome... I enjoy your posts and pics and you are already a welcome addition. I look forward to hearing more of your future exploits!
 
Erik...... Looks like you've taken Rocket ownership in Wyoming up 100% with your acquisition. Glad you've joined us and hopefully your cold weather will depart and give you some great riding days.

Flip..... You lost me right after this phrase. Excuse me for saying this but, " Are you guys talking shop?" 9th grade got me one semester of wood shop and one of metal shop. If I remember right.... it took me the first semester to cut and sand pine book ends and the second semester to cut, bend and attach the metal braces to the wood.

I've always admired the talent of people who work with their hands (I know....it's even harder to work without them).

Yes, we were talking shop. If you swing over to the thread about the India Enfields and read that, you'll understand. I remember 9th grade too. I made a Pinewood Derby car for the Cub Scouts. I didn't do real well. I'm not much with wood at all.

As a whole, this is a great group here. Besides, we all have Rockets (and a lot of payment books) to bind us all together. Bart is the classified guy. I'm willing to just rade.

Ah Ha,I'am very,very good with wood.Don't mean to be a bragard but since I've got a never ending supply of Viagra I don't even get splinters any more..Jack

Welcome Erik-Lots of good info and good laughs. By the way Jack, did you know they are prescribing Viagra for sunburn patients now. Keeps the sheet off of them.
 
Britman, same group is prescribing birth contrl pills for men. It's about the size of a quarter but 1/2" thick. You tape it to the bottom of your shoe....and it makes you limp. I crack myself up!
