Hello!

I'm not yet an R3T owner, but I hope to be in the next few months. Currently, I am riding a 2003 Moto Guzzi California EV and a 2003 BMW R1200CL. I'm planning to trade the BMW for a R3T. I live in Western North Carolina, but was born and raised in NJ. I love long day trips (600 miles and up) and am an avid fan of Progressive Rock, Jazz and Electronic Music as well as Classic Rock!

Glad to be here. I'd like to know what you guys and gals think of your R3/R3T's?

I had a 2011 Road Glide Ultra that I dumped gobs of money into and traded it in on the R3 with one ride. The power and handling are phenominal. The stock seat hurts my ass on a long ride but I plan on changing that soon. A lot of guys here are getting more than 200hp out of there Rocket. I'm not in a hurry to get there. I'm going to customize my own seat then work on some bars. A windshield will be after that but the stock windshield is adequate with a full face.

The R1200CL was more or less a "flop" for BMW so they see fit not to support it (Parts availability and so on) Last year, the ignition coils went out and I waited almost a full year for new ones (The company BMW contracts them out to went out of business) And now, there is a leak in the transmission seal (50,000 miles) In the midst of all this, my trusty '03 Guzzi just keeps on going. I swear, I'll rebuild the Guzzi from the ground up before I put another penny into this or any other late model BMW.

I'm sorry to hear about the beamer. That's the first I've ever heard bad about them. I've always heard they were one of the most reliable bikes made and what's funny I've heard the opposite about the 'Guzzi. That shows you that you shouldn't always go on what your hear. Good luck and I hope you get the Rocket. You won't regret it.

I had a 1982 BMW R65LS that I bought brand new. You couldn't kill that thing. The later BMW's are nice, but they are so over engineered, it costs way too much money to keep them serviced, even the regular service is pricey.
The Guzzi has been drop dead reliable since the day I got it. All I've done is change the oils regularly and put a new starter in it.
