While a RAT member for some years, finally got my hands on the R3 Touring. A nice step from the 96 Thunderbird, especially when my wife joins me.

Had an interesting issue this morning. At 31 degrees and an (almost) 3 year old battery, Bessie wasn't kicking. I pulled the panniers, pulled the seat and jumped the girl (well, figuratively) and now the fuel gauge reads empty and the miles to empty read "0" but the fuel warning light isn't lit.

Suggestions?

Welcome to the site from Molino, FL and Afghanistan.

Being that battery may be 3 years old...it may need a new one...especially in cold weather like you said you are experiencing...wouldn't be the first one.

Hopefully it is something simple.

Yep...that situation on fuel indication is normal Docs. Once you drop battery power, the fuel level indicators reset to 0......they'll come back after you ride a few miles....(for obvious reasons, the bike can't estimate distance to empty unless it has some history on how quickly you are using fuel ;) ) Did you buy a new battery ?

Welcome and the bike is forcing you to discuss things with all of us. Let us know if the battery fixes it.

Welcome to the exclusive owners of unique monsters,
glad to have you amongst us.
Anyway,
I'd get a scorpion Battery,
it's a perfect fit,
and at least as good as the stock one.
good luck and let us know.
Again,
Welcome from Oklahoma,

Welcome from Chicago. I just replaced my 2 year old battery with an Odessey battery. Started when replaced, them died. Charged with an Odessey charger and took a small ride. 6 miles into the ride, the bike died. Started after I shut down. Need to get that looked at.
