GI Pro

Now that's some will power ... knowing a GiPro is right there but restraining from using it. Man, how do you do it? That's like knowing there's cake in the fridge and not eating it. LOL

Had the gear shifter snap where the ball end of the rod connects.....this caused me great pain in trying to get it resolved with triumph. Finally got the deal done and now its back to getting the ride ready for the spring and summer riding..........this is where the delay in accesorizing came in....I couldnt bear having the GiPro installed and not be able to test it!!!

Ha ha - I top you all. I have had the Gi Pro installed for a few weeks and haven't pressed the button yet!

Thought I would get used to the restricted Rocket first before I take it to the next level.

Now that's admirable restraint - the curiosity must be killing you.
Just don't expect it to be like a turbo booster or anything when you do "press the button", but you should notice the better pull off the line.

Saga continues......I looked at the instructions sent with the unit and they are for the 2004-2007 rockets......mine is a 2008. Although I do not think this is a problem. But what appears to be is the instructions for the units shipped in 2010(?) have lengthened to 2004-2010(?) and now say to connect to a switchable power supply.
Again my instructions say to connect to battery......hmmmmmm now I am confused!!

There must have been changes made to the units internal memory backup in later units. My bike is also a 2008 and the GiPro is listed for 2004-2007.

Lovely, I really do not want this display on all the time. I will have to contact healtech and ask what changes were made....hopefully it will be with just the instructions and not the internals of the unit. Ill let everybody know what I find unless somebody else has already gone thru this and wants to chime in

Attached to the battery the display goes out with the ignition.
And you can adjust the brightness and the auto dimming at night.
The draw in the battery is miniscule, specs state it could take three weeks to effect the battery charge and recommends unhooking it for storage. I left mine on all winter with no problems.

Ahhhhhh! I see...well that makes more sense! And the instructions to say to hook it up to the battery so...I will connect it to the battery side of the PC8 and see how it goes. There probably is a difference between the new version and old. Thanks Hellfire!

No problem, I love the GiPro and happy to help with them any way I can. It's the most performance for the dollar you can get for your stock or PCIII equipped bike.
Another tip you might use ... Sometimes the gear calibration is correct right out of the box but typically you will have to calibrate it. Take your time with that part and do it over as many times as you want to get it right in all gears, this is what keeps the display from going out between gears and showing the wrong gear.
The power settings are a little confusing in the book ... setting (3) is the one you want if you are looking for full performance in all gears. Setting (4) will put first gear back to reduced power with full power in the other four. Setting (4) is nice in wet conditions and when the wife is on the back (reduces those jack-rabbit starts that get you smacked in the head from behind).
The same button is used for both the power setting and the display dimmer, be careful not to change one accidentally while adjusting the other.
And if you haven't done so already, removing the secondary butterfly's makes the throttle response instantaneous and works well with the GiPro enhancing the fun.
