Hi All,

I have been the proud owner of a new 2008 Rocket III (black one of course) for a couple of months now.

Apart from having to return her for 2 weeks to have the now almost legendary "upgrade kit" fitted. I am absolutely over the moon with my new ride.

Can't wait for the first long trip.

Welcome to the site....I'm not far from you (planet of earth speaking wise), enjoy your ride, don't worry too much if some red or red/black Rockets pass you it's the nature of the color.

Al, welcome to the site.

I also have a black '08, got it a year ago. I was of the impression that the upgrade kit was needed for older bikes. Guess I was wrong. What was done during the upgrade?
 
Hi billz,

The Bike jumped out of second several times and in general the first three gears felt like a tractor gearbox.

After the update......The box now feels as sweet as.
Main parts are a couple of replacement gears with redesigned dogs.
Also a stronger set of clutch springs(that I find only make a slightly heavier feel at the lever)and other updated parts such as tensioner guides.
