Well, if the lock is faulty, which it seems so, it has to be replaced. Ofc that means that it has to be manufactured for your key, which is kind of complicated. Maybe there is an option to replace just the mechanism, not the lock itself, if you know what I mean.
It's aggravating as help this pos. What a predicament to be in when needing gas with the range of the tiny tank. Don't trust it or lock it, it WILL fail on you one day.
How are your brakes? Mine are horrible. Brembo takes three pumps on the rear and two on the front. All that air in the ABS module has nowhere to go.
I’m convinced your Rocket is either possessed or it hates you. If you need the number of an exorcist I have one on file that I used on an ex girlfriend. She turned heads.

It's like the girlfriend that the sex is too good to break it off. I can run my hands over the curves, sit on her, and push the buttons. Then she gives you that icy stare and locks up. What cha gonna do? I've never locked the box again. I can stick the nozzle in any time. Guess I'll put up with her for another summer unless she quits putting out.
Yeah. A monza style cover, with a key from the fob to unlock the actual cap. Mine unlocks and locks, just does not unthread when you twist it after unlocking. Brand new, didnt even to give it a first fill up...so much for my furst weekend ride Honestly do we still need locking gas caps in 2024?
Since this popped up again just wanted to add since I posted about it not opening in March it turns out when I did get it opened at that time I guess I never locked it with the key when I put the cap back on so I have had no more issues with removing the cap since. Though I haven't also tried to lock it again after either. I'll bring it up with the dealer whenever I bring it in for the first service at the end of this year (if I can remember by then...).
Just to confirm, because I thought I had the same issue the first time and was confused until I read the manual, but you were holding the cap in place to keep it from turning with one hand while turning the key to unlock with the other, correct? Because just turning the key won't unlock it.
Had the same issue on my 2023 Rocket 3 GT..first fill-up, thought I had unlocked the cap by inserting the key and the cap would just spin and spin and not open. Turns out, its counter-intuitive. When you use the key to "unlock" the cap, you can turn it clockwise until you hear a ratchet sound like a car gas cap, so it does not over tighten. If you use force turning the cap counterclockwise, it will unscrew from the tank. If you believe you are unlocking the cap with the key and it spins and spins and will not open or come out ...you actually have it in the locked position and is in its theft deterrent mode....wonder how many have experienced this during their first fill up....no such explanation is in the manual.
The gas cap just spins now and won't open. Clicks proper when tightening up. Key locks it down, unlocks it, and then it spins and spins but won't unthread out of the bung with key in or out. Range down to 17 miles sitting at the pump and no where to put the nozzle. I'm trying to love my new Rocket...maybe have enough gas to get back home so I can load it back up to the dealer...

Early in on my ownership I got fed up with the annoying gas cap and I stopped locking it every time.
I have a better relationship with it, now I don't need the key during the fill up process.
