Funky Tranny

Tranny noise

After 8 years of reliability my 05 rocket has developed a noise in the transmission...I think. 36K There is a slap between decelerating and accelerating. It's a hard metal slap. Metal smacking metal. Sounds like a solenoid kicking in. All gears and especially after it’s warm.
Could it be a universal joint? Sounds too far toward the front for that.
My local servicing dealer sucks and the next one is about 75 miles away.
Has anyone else experienced this?

I can't get it to make the noise rocking it in first gear. I'll follow your lead and jack it up. I need to install a new steer tire anyway. FYI: Got 13K on the Avon. I can live with that. Plus there is still tread but why take the risk for just a couple of more miles.
Too bad it's 100 degrees in my garage today. She might just have to sit a few days.
