Fuel level cable/sensor?

Can anybody tell me if there is a seperate sensor for the fuel level? or is it part of the wiring harness which goes to the gauge cluster.
Couldn't find anything on the website and I'd like to add a seperate fuel gauge.

I have the Triumph fuel gauge..i like the look of it but it's inaccurate as it works of
the same float system..so if you want accuracy you will have to play around with the
float..most of the guy's say it's a fairly easy fix

That's good to know. I don't mind if it's a bit inaccurate, at the moment I have a seperate gauge for water temp. and I don't have anything for petrol level, not even a low warning light. This is because of the Dakota Digital gauge that I have from the USA. The gauge is totally great, but is not designed for any fuel reading. So I'd like to change the water for the fuel level instead.
In what way is it inaccurate Ray? Also I'm trying to decide whether to get a 1A or 5A charger for the battery, is 5A too much??

I must be lucky.. I have the Fuel Gauge fitted and it is fairly accurate in as much as the Low Fuel light shows as the neeedle goes into the Red..

Also take into consideration the inside shape of the Tank with the Bearclaw recess, the tank looses volume at the half tank point so fuel then drops on the gauge rapidly compared the the upper half were the Gauge falls slowly..

Just thought I would mention that..

If the Low Fuel light comes on at the red band then its doing OK... IMO

I just replaced my Battery with a Decca high output model and I was talking to the shop owner, he told me never to go above 1Amp as it would maybe damage the plates so I got a C-Tek XS 0.8 motorcycle battery charger.. it has normal clamps or an interchangable plug and socket so you dont need to remove the seat which is the one I use, just a couple of seconds and its charging.. quick too

Dennsell as a intresting point about the gauge showing red and the fuel warning light on..mine goes from full to about half way in about 30 miles and then sits there
for sometime before it drops to empty way before the light comes on
Being a rider of some years i've always made a mental note of the mileage on fill up
It used to bother me a little bit when i first got the bike
But now i take no notice and i like the look of the gauge..so it's not a big deal
I also have the Triumph clock that matches the gauge..which works ok
Would i buy the gauge and the clock again..i probably would..i like gauges

Thanks for your info chaps, I read the Rocket service manual online yesterday and it says to use a 1.2A and only use 5A if the battery is seriously discharged for 1 hour max, otherwise will cause damage as you said. So the 1A charger I will get.
I also like these gauge things, they're useful, and many cars have the same inaccurate reading, goes down quickly to half way and then slowly.
Is it just one wire for the sensor under the tank, not sure.
