front end fixing kits

anybody know what the story is with the front end fixing kit A9738051?
i'm getting 2 versions on the internets

version 1

version 2

anyone got any experience of these? i'd prefer the version 2 ones, seems cleaner looking

I just went and had a look at mine and you need those bits in version 1,but I cant work out what those square plates listed as "2" are for.
The bits in version 2 are also needed and are the parts the screen fits to.
But the pics dont appear to be from a R3.A few of the other triumph models,like the speed triple and thunderbird have similar kits and they are probably using one pic for all.

I'm guessing the bits marked as #2 are some form of rubberized pad to protect the forks from being marked, but I could be wrong.

The rectangular plates ARE rubber pieces that go between the forks & the clamps.
