My dealer wasn't at all helpful - showed me a Classic in the showroom which didn't have the same problem, but I guess they use the same length clutch cable with more pull back on the bars. Over time my set up will either wear a hole in the clutch outer or damage the flyscreen. Any suggestions?

Just gone & looked at mine Simon.
I have the flyscreen - dealer fitted.
Strange thing is, I don't have that rectangular clip on my clutch cable at all.
My cable just touches the edge of the screen, and in the year it's been on, it hasn't left a mark on the screen, and there's just a small rub mark on the cable, so I wont be worrying that it's going to wear through for at least 10 years yet.

Hi Simon

I fitted mine myself & it touches the screen too, like owl said it is not a problem.. I unclipped the cable from the bottom clip & just have it going thro' the one one the screen, gives it a bit more play & only touches on full lock. the important bit is the strip of rubber on the left hand side of the key cover as the cable will rub on the metal & wear the outer cable

Cheers guys. I'll live with. There's a very small rub mark (you can just feel it) in the cable after about 600 miles, so I'll keep an eye on it.

I have some quite severe damage to the outer part of the clutch cable. It seems to be caused more by the retaining clip that is fitted to the top yoke, than the one on the flyscreen. The clip that fits to the yoke does not stay in place. I will get the dealer to look at it, but has anyone else experienced this problem?
Mike

I had the same problem with mine but spotted before any bad damage (dealer fitted screen) cured it with a cable tie, 1st make sure that the cable clip is under the yoke not over and then play about with a cable tie to keep the pressure off the cable.

I've wrapped self amalgamating tape around the damaged sheath to keep the water out during this weekend's trip round western Scotland :-( When I get back I think I'll have to get a new cable as it must be corroding inside now.
