All good advice here ...I assume your battery had a full charge. It may turn over but some other posts have claimed it won't fire without a full charge. If it's been sitting I would suspect you probably have other issues.
The battery has a full charge, but just in case, I also connected jumper cables to the car. I will have to get some 'easy start'. Cosmetically, the bike is in a poor state and the discs/pads are dragging, but once I get the beast running I can do the rest.
OK, a quick update. Removed all the spark plugs and checks for a spark. All were clean and showed a blue spark, although plugs 5 and 6 were a bit fuelled up (black) and all smelled of fuel.
Loosened the fuel line banjo bolt to the underside of the tank. With ignition on fuel spayed out.
A couple of things I noted. First, I don't know how old the fuel is, and the banjo bolt had some slight clogging with 'goo'. So I will drain the tank. Second, upon checking the vacuum lines which (I think) run from the (grey plastic) air inlet and split to the throttle bodies, one was split. I cut off the damaged part and re-fitted. Third, there is an electrical connector fitted to the grey plastic air inlet, is this critical for starting.
I swapped around all five relays to no effect.
The previous owner fitted a new ignition switch near the LH side panel. The bike turns over fine, so I'm hoping the switch is ok.
Does anyone have any photos or locations of parts that I could check next.
I tried 'Easy Start' before, and the bike backfired and tried to run, so I am still thinking fuel??
THE FUEL U HAVE Probably wont even burn much less fire under compression.
i think the elect connector u are asking about is the air temp sensor i don't know for sure but if it is disconnected the ecu might think the temp is -40 and flat put the gas in there.
Change the fuel and try it ,the sensor into the grey plastic is the MAP sensor an being disconnected won't stop it firing up, it will throw the check light. As Turbo says bout plugs .Buy a new set.
Thanks folks Tomorrow after work (yeh, it gets in the way) I will drain the fuel and put the tank back on.
One other question, it had 3 cone shaped air filters fitted, maybe K&N, do I need to allow for them in any way? When, I (with all your help) get it going, I plan to update the ECU tune, as I have done this a few times on Triumphs to good effect.

Another quick update( as i'm at work). Took the tank off and removed the fuel pump. it was orange with crap Flushed the tank as it was was minging. The fuel was horrible. I have yet to re-fit the tank and add new fuel. I have a bottle of fuel cleaner/stabliliser which I will add as I haven't looked at the fuel lines or injectors.
So tomorrow.................................................................it MIGHT start up
