ECU location?

I don't think you'll find Brent is confused, but I believe n8sv8 is

As Sully said: When you get your TuneBoy cable and have the software installed, hook it up to your bike (follow the TuneBoy documentation) then click on "Get ECU Serial Number" - you then email this to Brent who will send you your Key

I sent it to him on a weekend and he had the key to me within a couple hours!

Maybe I am confused... this is the email I received:

Thank you for your order. Email us with the ECU serial number and we will get you the activation code. We will be out of town all next week and will get that for you the week of the 7th.

Thanks again,

That is exactly right, n8sv8, but you have to wait for your tuneboy to arrive, load the software according to the instructions, then hook up to the plug from the ECU, turn the bike on but don't start, on the TuneEdit program there is the "tools" pulldown menu, go to "Get ECU Serial Number" and then email back to TuneBoy the information you see on the screen. They will, in turn, email you back the key code. This key code will allow your computer to "talk" with the bike's computer. This is there security so others don't just start giving out free copies of their hard work!

You will have to be patient and wait for the cable via shipment. But you can download the software and start getting familiar with it now.

yeah, I'm guessing it was a newbie mistake lol. The way I read that email was that I had to provide the SN before they would ship... seemed odd to me too.

So, that means you can't resell your tuneboy later or.....

you can resell it...............but the new owner will still have to buy a new key..............that is still cheaper than buying the whole kit.

for instance........if Dragline wants TB...............all he has to buy is another key.......................because he is welcome to use my cable etc. :D

It's $150 for every key, or think of it as every bike...
You can have multiple keys (or bikes) on one computer...
