Does anyone out there know how to beat the E-Bay snipers. I waited for the clock to wind down , at 3 seconds left the sniper beat me. This has happened to me four times in a row. I don't know if there is a certain time lapse for the bid to register or i'm just too slow. Any suggestions would be appreciated..

start sniping yourself . I do it but your max bid still has to be higher than theirs

Well, coming from a Pro Sniper, I'll tell you what you can do:

1. Use an outside system. You can pay someone else (there are several) that will place a bid for you at the 2-second mark.

2. Be a better sniper yourself. Wait until the last second (last 4 seconds is best) and place a HUGE bet. If you want it, bid for it,. baby!

Consider what you really want to pay for an item.

If you want it, be prepared to PAY for it. Example: If there is a custom R3 seat that you would pay $350 for (including shipping), be ready to place a $426.55 bid at the 3 second mark.

You may end up paying $376 for the seat, but you'll come away with the satisfation of knowing you have outsniped the snipers.

BTW: All apolgies for sniping you on the R3 stuff...

What i do is i never get into a bidding war. i figure out the max price (like everyone said) that i would pay and get the ebay filled out and then hit the submit at the last minute. that way they think nobody is interested. herman

Not to brag but I'm an E-Bay junkie. I have been sniped a time or two, but here is the bottom line. When bidding, the sniper will have to put in a max bid to the snipe program. So it becomes a poker game. Either one will know what the others max bid will be until the last second. Example: If the bidding is at $25.00 and your max bid was $51.00 and the sniper max bid was in at $50.00 you would win the bid. Bottom line when bidding put a max bid that you are comfortable with that makes sense and it may not get that high.
Like I said it becomes a poker game who was the highest bid a the last second. Hope this helps.

I've bought a lot of stuff off eBay
Decide how bad you want it and compare it to what it's worth and then decide what it's worth to you and add 81 cents to it
I have found that its the odd amount of change that wins it for you
But it is what it is
It boils down to what your willing to pay for it
I bought a 1958 toastmaster powermatic toaster for 30 dollars however I bid 150
For it just because I grew up with on and wanted it
Bid what it is worth to you
Chances are it will be relished
Or there will be another one shortly

the only problem with waiting till the last few seconds,
then casting your net out in a bid,
hoping no one else is interested,
is that the sniper is quicker.
We're talking the speed of electrons here,
maybe NOT the speed of light, but close.
If I have a $50.00 snipe bid in on a vintage Triumph patch or buckle,
somebody else has a $35.00 snipe bid in on it too.
The current bid is $15.00.
When the clock hits 5 seconds both snipes will hit
and have a private bidding war at the speed of electrons
till somebody comes out on top, all in the last 5 seconds.
Humans can't raise their bid and hit submit that quick,
especially if the snipe goes over your last bid....
Face it, either use the sniper and win, or keep losing what you wanted.
Just remember, don't put a snipe bid over what you think something is worth to YOU.
Good luck....
i've won some pretty cool Triumph vintage buckles, patches and pins using the snipe,
now have a fairly nice collection.

I'll give my secret away but it works REALLY well..

Know what you want to pay for something first. Some people put in a 1,000 bid on something they expect to sell for $30 - what if two people do that? Someone's going to but it for $1000 - then have to back out of the sale, etc... that's not fair to the seller....

So, here's what I've done with GREAT success...

I put a proxy bid in during the last 30 seconds of the auction. I figure I want to pay $50 for it so I bid $51.53. IT makes all the difference. Now, if someone is going to put a $1000 bid - I'll lose but I will not go over what I want to pay.

However, the odd dollar / cents isn't what someone will typically bid. So, if it's sitting at $30 and I've placed a high bid of $51.53 - then typically someone might bid $50 during the last seconds - and I've got them by $1.53. If they bid $51 in the last few seconds I've got them by $.53.

Again, if it goes for more - oh well, didn't want to pay that much but if the other people are bidding close to what I'm willing to pay - I've won close to 100% of the time.

there is a word for a guy that bids more than what it is worth
its called SUCKER LOL
